At Nutts About Mutts Pet Dog Training, we pride ourselves on our DO NO HARM policy, which means that training techniques and advice given to all dog owners will not harm your dog, or the relationship you have with your dog. At Nutts About Mutts, we only use reward based training. Put simply, this means that we either catch a dog doing the right thing and reward it, or we teach a dog something and reward them when they get it right. Using positive reinforcement training improves the bond you have with your dog, when training is fun it is more enjoyable for all. We use the most up to date methods, combined with scientifically proven laws of learning techniques.

| Julie has always had a fascination with animals and their behaviour. She began her working life in an office, with a focus on Customer Service. For 12 years, she fulfilled the role of a Dog Control Officer for a metropolitan Council. Her role at Council saw her deal with many stressed and anxious dogs away from their home environment. Julie has been a volunteer for Pet Pep and attended Primary Schools to promote responsible pet ownership to our next generation of dog owners. | |

Julie’s passion for dogs and learning led her to expand her knowledge and undertake over 18 months of intense study in dog behaviour. She gained her full qualification, a Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services (dog behaviour) in early 2008 with the Delta Society of Australia. Julie began conducting group classes with experienced Delta trainers at the beginning of her study in 2006. Since then she has trained for the Animal Welfare League SA, Canine Interaction and Holdfast Dog Centre. Julie enjoys her work as a group trainer, but also loves the challenges and personal interaction with private in-home consultations. Julie’s life goal is to reduce the huge number of dogs surrendered to shelters. It is a sad fact that many dogs, under 2 years of age are surrended to shelters in Australia because of behavioural problems that can be fixed; or could have been prevented through positive early socialisation and training. Julie strongly feels she is making a difference in the community both with her work at Council and as a Positive Reinforcement Trainer by helping people to educate and raise their dogs to be good canine citizens. Julie uses training methods that will maintain a strong bond with the owner and their dog; so they can go anywhere and do anything together for many years to come. Julie is a Full Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers of Australia and a Full Member and Committee Member of the Delta Professional Dog Trainers’ Association. |
